Dogma Reigns

Dogma Reigns

Zealous Preachers make their claim
Beneath dark clouds and pouring rain
Whilst in their dungeon freedom rots
Bound by dogmas frigid knots
It screams for one chance, just to speak
To tell the world, ‘Life’s sprung a leak’
But no one hears and no one cares
They’re bound tight in that cage of theirs
They feel no need to see the plot
And say ‘it’s fine’, when it is not
Unaware that conflict rages
To change the end of histories pages
And alter life as we have known it
To suit the scum who think they own it
Thought patterns steer the way to act
Fuelled by belief and not by fact
Illusions fence stands all around
No gate to leave though, can be found
So, what comes next to beat men down
Is it new fears from science theory?
Or taking pills to make you cheery?
Perhaps more jabs to put you right
Two in the morning, one at night
Set structures in the way we think
Produce bad laws that cause a stink
Suppressing human soul expression
To keep us in a dull depression
Marching in a crooked line
Towards a place where light won’t shine
Accepting theories of this world
Will trick you when the dice is hurled
You place your fate in the hands of others
Not your sisters or your brothers
But with those masked and soulless rakes
With a forked tongued deal that always breaks
Though now their words are not enough
The time has come to call their bluff
Before you reach the last conclusion
Clear your head of your delusion
Question what the fakers say
If you don’t, you’d better pray
