Slumber Land

Dreaming of a pleasant life
No cockerels close at hand
Nor ears to hear them crowing
Out here in Slumber Land

The Politicians promise
To the playing of a band
The Tyrants watch you sleeping
Out here in Slumber Land

You gaze into the mystic dream
And walk illusions sand
Whilst thieves steal all your money
Out here in Slumber Land

You never seem to question
Why common sense was banned
Or why they hate you thinking
Out here in Slumber Land

The jailers have you cornered
The game went as they planned
They’ll feed you dreams for ever
Out here in Slumber Land

It almost seems like real life
Though most don’t understand
It’s second hand illusion
Out here in Slumber Land

The money men lay near their pools
White teeth and golden tanned
Not needing your agreement
Out here in Slumber Land

The boat is waiting at the dock
But the tillers never manned
It sits in lonely waters
Out here in Slumber Land

Why don’t we wake to truth right now
And make a timely stand?
Before a nightmare falls on us
Out here in Slumber Land
